Tips for making the best air fried shrimp.

Fresh raw shrimp was used in making my coconut shrimp. If you use frozen shrimp, allow the shrimp to fully thaw and then pat them dry using a clean kitchen or paper towel to remove any remaining water as it can get in the way of the coating and its ability to stick to the shrimp.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Large shrimp was used in making my air fried coconut shrimp. While you could use another sized shrimp, keep in mind that air fry times can vary.
    2. This recipe uses a dredging station to coat the shrimp. I like to use shallow bowls to make it easier to quickly and efficiently do this step.
    3. When dredging a fork or dipping tool can come in handy for keeping the shrimp from falling into the bowl.
    4. When placing the shrimp into your air fryer, leave room for the warm air to circulate. Depending on the size of your air fryer, this recipe may need to be made in batches.
    5. Feel free to take your shrimp up a notch by adding in some red pepper flakes, minced garlic, or even a dash of barbecue rub.

How to make Air Fryer Coconut Shrimp

    Prep Time: 10 minutes .
    Bake Time: 5 minutes .
    Servings : Serves 4.

    1. If you have not done so, prepare your shrimp as needed. This includes removing the shells and veins.
    2. Remove the basket from your air fryer and give it a quick spray with nonstick or use the prep of your choice. Then place the basket back into the air fryer.
    3. To set up your dredging station, you will need three bowls plus a holding area for the coated shrimp.
    4. In the first bowl, use a whisk or a fork to combine together the flour with the seasonings. Lightly beat the eggs in the second bowl. Then use a fork to combine the panko and shredded coconut in the third bowl.
    5. To coat the shrimp, one shrimp at a time, dip the shrimp into the first bowl (dry ingredients)and then give the shrimp a tap or two to release any excess flour. Then dip the coated shrimp into the egg bowl (second bowl) and shake off any extra egg back into the bowl. Lastly, coat the shrimp in the breadcrumb and coconut mixture from the third bowl and place the shrimp on to your holding area. Repeat the process with the remaining shrimp.
    6. When all of your shrimp have been coated, preheat your air fryer to 350. While the air fryer is heating, you can spray the shrimp with the oil, flip the shrimp, and spray again.
    7. Carefully, place your shrimp into the air fryer basket, leaving plenty of room between the shrimp.
    8. Air fry for three minutes and then flip the shrimp over.
    9. Continue to air fry until golden brown.
    10. Serve the shrimp with your favorite dip(s) or as desired.

Expert Tip 👉 Air fry times can vary depending on your air fryer and the size of the shrimp when coated. It is best to keep an eye on your shrimp after flipping it during the air fry process.

How to store air fried shrimp.

Once your shrimp has fully cooled, it should be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, this shrimp should keep for up to four days refrigerated or frozen for about a month. You can also use your air fryer to reheat it.
