Tips for making the best Slow Cooker Cocktail Smokies.

Chili sauce was used in making my sausages to give them a more spicy bite. Feel free to use a barbecue or other sauce to personalize your smokies instead.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Make clean up a breeze by lining your slow cooker with a slow cooker liner first.
    2. My sausages were cooked in a six quart Crockpot. If you are using a smaller version, you can cut the ingredients in half or make two batches. (Note that cooking times can vary with this method.)
    3. Simply set your slow cooker on warm when serving these sausages. I would stir them occasionally
    4. These smokies can be made ahead of time and refrigerated (for about four days). You can then reheat them when you are ready to serve them.
    5. Not a fan of chili or barbecue sauce? Try using gravy, sweet and sour sauce, or honey instead.
    6. Take your sausages up a notch by stirring in some hot(ter) sauce or red pepper flakes.

How to make Crockpot Little Smokies Cocktail Sausages

    Prep Time: 5 Minutes .
    Slow Cook Time : 2-3 hours .
    Servings : 12 .

    .

    1. Prep your slow cooker as desired. This can be lining it with a slow cooker liner or spraying it with nonstick if desired.
    2. Place the sausages into your slow cooker.
    3. In a large bowl, use a whisk to combine together the remaining ingredients. Then pour half of the ingredients over the smokies, stir the ingredients, and then add the remaining ingredients from bowl.
    4. Cover your slow cooker and slow cook on low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the jelly has melted and the little smokies are hot
    5. Serve your sausages with cocktail toothpicks or cocktail forks.

Expert Tip 👉 If your sauce is thin while it is cooking you can try removing the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow some liquid to evaporate. If your sauce is still too thin after slow cooking, whisk together cornstarch with a little water (one tablespoon to two tablespoons of water) and then stir the mixture into the ingredients cooking for another 10-15 minutes or until thickened.

How to store leftover smokie sausages.

Once they have fully cooled, you can store your leftovers in an airtight container. When properly stored, slow cooker sausages should keep refrigerated for about four days or frozen for up to three months.
