Tips for making the best air fryer chicken tenders.
The easiest ways to crush your cornflakes is to use a food processor. If you do not have a food processor, simple place the cornflakes in a zip top bag and run a rolling pin over the bag to crush them.
More helpful tips for you.
- Before slicing your chicken into tenders, use a clean paper towel or similar item to pat the chicken down to remove any moisture. This will make it easier to slice and to coat with the other ingredients.
- When coating your chicken with the cornflake mixture, coat the chicken evenly for the perfect consistent crunch.
- Leave room in the air fryer for the warm air to circulate. The chicken tenders can touch one another but, should not overlap.
- Make sure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F before serving it.
- Do you have to use chicken breasts to make this recipe? You can use any part of the chicken or even the full breast to make this recipe. Keep in mind however, that the air frying time and ingredient amounts can change.
- Want an even spicier hot honey dip? Stir in a few drops of tabasco or similar sauce.
How to make Air Fryer Cornflake Chicken Tenders
Prep Time: 15 minutes .
Air Fry Time: 20 minutes .
Servings: 18 tenders .
- To prepare your chicken breast, slice each breast down the center and then slice each of the breast halves into three pieces. You should have 18 chicken tender pieces after slicing the chicken.
- In a medium bowl, use a whisk to combine together your flour and seasonings (paprika, chipotle chili powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder). This will be the first bowl (of three) used in your dredging station to coat your chicken.
- To make the rest of your dredging station, you will need two somewhat shallow bowls. The first bowl should have your whisked egg. The second bowl should hold your crushed cornflakes.
- Start by dipping your first chicken tender into the bowl with the flour and then the bowl with the whisked egg, followed by the cornflakes. Your tender should be entirely coated.
- Place your coated chicken tender into your air fryer basket and repeat with the remaining tenders.
- Air fry your chicken for 15 minutes at 360°F, flipping after seven minutes, or until done on the inside (165 internal temperature).
- To make the hot honey dip, simple whisk together the honey with the red pepper flakes, making adjustments as desired for flavor.
Expert Tip👉 Make sure that your chicken is not overlapping in the air fryer basket as this can hinder even air frying. Depending on the size of your air fryer basket, you may have to air fry in batches.
