What are air fryer chicken wings?

Air fryer chicken wings are simply chicken wings that have been cooked in an air fryer rather than deep fried.

I like how much healthier air frying can be.

Have you tried my Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing and Dip?

Made with buttermilk and seasonings that classic ranch dressing and dip is creamy and tangy, making it perfect for about anything. These chicken wings would go great when served with homemade ranch dressing on the side for dipping!

Season your chicken wings with a chicken wing seasoning. You can find a selection of chicken wing seasonings here.

Ingredients needed to make Crispy Chicken in an Air Fryer.

    • Chicken. Drumettes and flats were used in making my wings.
    • Oil. This will help the seasoning stick to the wings and also allow the wings get crisp.
    • Seasoning. You can use the seasoning of your choice or one of these seasonings in this recipe.

Tips for making the best iar fried chicken wings.

If you use whole wings you will need to break them up. This recipe is more simple to make when you select chicken wings that have already been broken down into wingettes and drumettes.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Use a paper towel or similar item to pat the chicken dry before coating it. Removing the moisture will help the oil and seasoning stick as well as allow the chicken to get crisp/
    2. Oil is used to coat the skin. I like a flavorful oil such as olive oil but, you can use about any oil that can be used in an air fryer.
    3. When applying the oil to the wings, you can use the a zip top bag to shake the wings in the oil in or simply use a oil sprayer .
    4. Leave room in the air fryer for the warm air to circulate around the nuggets. The chicken nuggets should not overlap in the air fryer basket.
    5. Preheating your air fryer can help the nuggets air fry evenly. You can also rotate them midway through air frying .
    6. Lastly, you can serve your chicken wings with carrots and celery with a bit of dip on the side just like the restaurants do.

How to make Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wings

    Prep Time: 5 minutes .
Air Fry Time: 25-30 minutes .
    Servings: 4 .

    1. Prepare. Prepare your wings as indicated including patting dry any moisture. Also, prep your air fryer as desired. You can preheat the air fryer to 400.
    2. Wings. Place your wings in a zip top bag or large bowl. Then toss the wings with your oil and seasonings. You can alternatively spray the wings with oil and sprinkle your seasoning on top.
    3. Air Fry. Place your wings into your air fryer leaving space for the warm air to circulate. Air fry for 10 minutes, toss or flip the wings and then continue to air fryer until the chicken is brown and done (15 to 20 minutes). You can toss your wings as needed after the first toss.
    4. Cool. Allow your chicken wings to cool for a few minutes before serving as they will be very warm.

Expert Tip 👉 Your chicken is done cooking when a meat thermometer says that the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Depending on the size of your air fryer, this recipe may have to be made in batches.

    How to store chicken wings.

Once your chicken wings have fully cooled they can be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, chicken wings should keep for up to four days when refrigerated or up to three months when frozen (and thawed and heated before serving).
