What What are sweet potato wedges?
Sweet potato wedges are simply slices of sweet potatoes that are seasoned and baked or fried and then served like you would serve regular potato wedges.
I really like how using an air fryer takes out the excess oil in these potatoes.
Have you tried my Mexican Fiesta Seasoning?
That homemade fiesta seasoning is a perfect all-purpose seasoning blend that is made with paprika, cumin, and chili powder. These sweet potato wedges would taste great with fiesta seasoning on top!
My wedges were served in a basket that works great for both fries and wedges. You can find baskets for serving fries and wedges here.

Tips for making the best air fried sweet potatoes.
When selectin sweet potatoes, look for sweet potatoes that are intact and in good condition. Your sweet potatoes should be fresh as well.
More helpful tips for you.
- Start by cleaning the dirt off of your potatoes as they have grown in the ground. I use a potato scrubber for my potatoes. Also, remove any objects that do not belong on the potato skin.
- When slicing your potatoes into wedges, slice them uniformly and about a half inch to one inch thick. This ensures that they will air fry evenly and they cook through without getting mushy in the center.
- When placing the potato wedges in your air fryer basket, evenly spread them out so that they do not overlap as this can have an effect on even baking. It is better to make the wedges in batches than overlap them.
- Keep an eye on your wedges while they are air frying. Your sweet potato wedges will be done when they are golden brown and crisp on the outside while being tender, like a baked potato, on the inside.
- Halfway through air fryer you can shake the basket or use tongs to turn the wedges to help ensure even cooking and browning.
- If you have leftovers, reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain their crispiness.
