Ingredients needed to make chips using pasta.
The pasta that you use can be freshly made or can be made specifically for this recipe. You can even use ready to eat pasta that comes in a packet.
Here is what you will need to make this snack.
- Pasta. It is best to use pasta that is easy to eat with your fingers and be able to hold up when dipped. Softer pasta, such as whole wheat may not work as well (I have not tried using whole wheat pasta in this recipe).
- Olive Oil or Olive Oil Spray. This adds a bit of flavor while helping the seasoning stick to the pasta.
- Seasonings. My pasta chips were made with salt and garlic powder. I have also made this recipe using Italian seasonings and taco seasoning.
- Parmesan Cheese. Grated cheese adds a taste element in addition to a texture element. Air fried grated parmesan also tastes good when it gets crunchy.

Tips for making the best pasta chips
Choose a pasta that is between 1 ½ to three inches long for best results. Also, the pasta should be flat rather than round so that it can be used for dipping. Good pasta choices include farfalle pasta, bowtie pasta, and Campanelle pasta.
More helpful tips for you.
- If you are cooking pasta to use in this recipe rather than using leftovers, cook the pasta al dente. This will help keep the structure intact when air frying the pasta.
- Cooking times can vary depending on the size of your air fryer. It is best to keep an eye on the pasta while it is cooking.
- It is important that you remember to shake the air fryer basket a few times while the pasta is air frying. This will help keep the pasta from sticking to one another and allow the pasta to bake evenly.
- It is best to not overcrowd the air fryer basket as doing so can make the pasta cook unevenly.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with seasonings and dips with this recipe.
