More helpful tips for you.
- I mentioned above that maple syrup can be used instead of the honey (vegan alternative). Since they measure differently, you may need to use less syrup to get your desired sweetness.
- Yes, freshly ground ginger is preferred for a more 'authentic' sauce. However, the powdered ginger is a suitable alternative.
- Take your sauce up a notch by stirring in some red pepper flakes.
- This sauce tends to thicken as it cools and sits. You whisk in a small amount of water to thin it out as needed.
- Need extra sauce to make a marinade with? Simple double your ingredients.
- The cornstarch and cold water are used to make a 'slurry' for the sauce. This is what thickens your sauce to your desired consistency.
