- Prepare. Prepare your ingredients as indicated. This includes slicing your jalapenos, dicing your tomatoes, and crushing your garlic cloves.
- Sear. In a heavy skillet, such as a cast iron skillet, on medium heat, heat your oil for one minute. Then add the jalapeno halves and the garlic cloves and sear for a minute and a half on both sides or until brown and softened. Remove the ingredients from the pan and allow them to cool for a minute or so before chopping them into small pieces and returning them to the skillet.
- Heat. Add the beans and seasonings to the skillet with the jalapeno and garlic pieces and cook the ingredients for five minutes, stirring regularly.
- Tomato and Onion. Stir in the diced onion and tomato and cook the ingredients for another minute.
- Finish. Remove the ingredients in the skillet from the heat and carefully stir in the chopped cilantro, and lime juice.
- Serve. This salsa can be served warm or cold.
