To prepare your ribs, you can start by carefully removing the membrane that is attached to the ribs. Depending on the size of your slow cooker, you may need to break them up as needed to fit into your slow cooker. Lastly, you can rinse anything off the ribs if needed and use a clean kitchen or paper towel to blot your ribs dry.
In a small bowl, use a whisk to combine together the seasoning ingredients. Then carefully rub this mixture into the ribs. If you have added the chili pepper flakes you may want to use gloves.
Place the ribs into your slow cooker and use a pastry brush or similar brush to base the ribs using half of the barbecue sauce.
Pour the crushed pineapple along with juice over the basted ribs.
Next, cover your crockpot and set it to slow cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the pork ribs are fully cooked through and tender.
Serve the ribs with the remaining sauce.
For a more 'authentic barbecue style' you can place your slow cooked ribs onto a large baking sheet, give then an additional baste of sauce, and broil them for until caramelized (10-15 minutes). I would prep that pan first.
