Optional Toppings Additional sour cream, shredded lettuce, chopped green onions, and black olives.
Instructions
Prepare. Preheat your oven to 375 and prep a baking (casserole) dish for nonstick.
Beef. If you have not done so, brown you beef in a large skillet, breaking up the clumps while it cooks. Drain the fat from the skillet and then stir in your taco seasoning, tomato mixture, and sauce. Heat the ingredients on low for five minutes.
Layer. While your ingredients are heating in the skillet, spread a layer of the corn chips on the bottom of your prepared baking dish. Top the corn chips with with the mixture from the skillet and then drop dollops of the sour cream over the ingredients. You can use the backside of a spoon to evenly spread the sour cream over the ingredients.
Cheese. Evenly sprinkle your shredded cheese over the sour cream layer and then place the remaining chips on top of the cheese.
Bake. Bake your Frito casserole for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve. Let the casserole sit for a few minutes to set. Then top the casserole as desired and serve.
