Prepare. Gather and measure out all of your ingredients. Also, have a clean container ready to hold your barbecue sauce in.
Heat. In a large saucepan over medium heat, use a whisk or wooden spoon to combine together your ingredients. Once the mixture begins to boil, bump the heat down to low and allow the mixture to simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cool. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. You can taste and adjust the flavors as needed but, keep in mind that your sauce will thicken up a bit while it cools.
Transfer. Carefully transfer your barbecue sauce to an airtight container or jar.
