1tablespoonCanola Oil. -- optional. Another neutral oil or butter can be substituted.
Instructions
Prepare the Rice. Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it thoroughly under cool running water, gently stirring the grains with your hand. Continue rinsing until the water runs mostly clear. Drain well. Then place the rinsed and drained rice into your Instant Pot.
Add Ingredients. Pour the water over the rice that is in the Instant Pot. Then add the salt and oil. Gently stir once to distribute the ingredients and make sure the rice is submerged.
Pressure cook. Secure the lid and set the steam release valve to the Sealing position, if your model requires it. Select Pressure Cook/Manual on High Pressure for three minutes. The Instant Pot will take several minutes to come to pressure before the cooking time begins.
Allow a natural release. When the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, carefully release any remaining pressure according to your Instant Pot manufacturer's instructions.
Fluff the rice. Once the pressure has fully released, carefully open the lid. Use a fork or rice paddle to gently fluff the rice, separating the grains rather than stirring vigorously. Rest and serve. Let the rice sit uncovered for two to three minutes to allow excess steam to escape. Taste and adjust the salt if needed, then serve warm.
