This is a quick recipe that features juicy chicken breasts coated in a sticky-sweet, sesame-infused sauce.
Making this at home can save both money and time.

    • Using a pressure cooker means that the chicken cooks to perfection in minutes, locking in all its juices.
    • The flavor profile works as ginger and garlic add a warm, aromatic base, while the soy sauce and a touch of hot sauce bring a savory kick.
    • Using apple cider vinegar adds a hint of tang that cuts through the sweetness of the honey.
    • The chicken is cooked in the instant pot which means no frying and no clean up from frying.
    • This recipe can be easily customized by using low sodium ingredients or sprinkling in red pepper flakes.
    • Honey sesame chicken goes great with rice, noodles, or all by itself.

Tips for making the best homemade sesame chicken.

The first step in this recipe is to cook the chicken in your pressure cooker for three minutes. If your chicken is cut into larger pieces than mine, you may need to cook it for another minute or two

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. When slicing up your chicken, it is best to cut the pieces into uniform sizes. This will help them cook evenly and at the same time.
    2. Because honey can burn easily, I would wait until after the pressure release to add the honey to the sauce. This ensures it retains its flavor and to minimize any caramelizing.
    3. The sauce is thickened using cornstarch slurry. For best results, make sure that your cornstarch is fully dissolved in the water before adding it to the pot. I also like to whisk it until smooth to avoid lumps in the final sauce.
    4. Sesame seeds and green onions are used as garnishes in my chicken. For an extra flavor and texture boost, you can add chopped peanuts or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
    5. You can make this into a meal in itself by adding cooked broccoli, snow peas, or bell peppers.
    6. Not a fan of white meat? Yes, you can use dark meat instead in this recipe.
