Tips for making the best baked apples.

When selecting apples, select apples that are firm enough to hold up to baking. I like to use a mix of tart and sweet apples for a more personalized flavor. Good apple choices include honeycrisp, fuji, gala, golden delicious, and granny smith.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar and spices added to the mixture. If you are using just sweet apples, you may want to use less or no sugar.
    2. Your apples are done baking when they are somewhat soft. You can check for doneness by gently piercing an apple slice with a fork. The apple should be tender but still hold its shape. Avoid overbaking as it can result in a mushy texture.
    3. Add-ins that can work in this recipe include oats (you may need to adjust your wet ingredients), raisins, and nuts.
