Tips for making the best homemade Chex Mix

Stirring or shaking the basket while the mix is air frying is important. Not only will this allow everything to bake evenly crisp, it will help prevent burning.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Using real butter is essential to the flavor of this recipe. While you may be tempted to use margarine or an alternative but, real butter has the best flavor for this one.
    2. Worcester sauce is the key ingredient when it comes to seasoning this snack recipe. I would not skip it if you want your snack mix to taste similar to the original.
    3. Seasoning is also a key ingredient that should not be skimped on. You can use a low salt seasoning if needed.
    4. What kind of Chex cereal works best in this recipe? While you could use the Chex of your choice, popular choices are corn, rice, and wheat.
    5. Can you add other kind of crunchy snack to the mix? Small crackers, bagel chips, or rice cracker mix work in this recipe too.
    6. Can this recipe be made in an oven? This is a smaller batch recipe that can be easily made in an oven baked at 250 until crisp (45-50 minutes).

    3. Pour half of the butter mixture over the ingredients in the bowl and toss the ingredients well. Then repeat the process with the remaining butter mixture.
    4. When all of the ingredients in the large bowl have been coated with the butter mixture, you can transfer the mix to your air fryer. If the mixture does not all fit in the basket, you may need to make this recipe in batches .
    5. Air fry the mixture at 350 for four minutes then toss or shake the basket.
    6. Continue to air fry the mix for three minutes or until crisp.
    7. Allow the mix to cool before enjoying.

Expert Tip 👉 After air frying, I like to transfer my check mix to a rimmed baking sheet that is lined with paper towels while it cools. Doing this allows the Chex mix to completely dry out and become more crispy.
