Tips for making the best pastry twists.
Use puff pastry that is fresh and intact. A 'buttery' puff pastry can add more flavor to this recipe.
More helpful tips for you.
- Thaw the puff pastry according to the directions on the packaging.
- Feel free to omit the added sugar or use a sugar alternative that measures like sugar and that can be baked with.
- Use a clean work space that has been lightly dusted with flour for unrolling your puff pastry.
- When you roll out your pastry, place a sheet of parchment paper on top of pastry for more even rolling.
- Roll your pastry out to about a quarter inch thick. Any thicker will be too thick to twist and any smaller may not hold together.
- You can use a simple egg wash over your twists for a more 'professional' look and to hold on sugar or other toppings you may want to add.
