    What are ranch potatoes?

Ranch potatoes are potatoes, usually sliced, that are cooked with ranch seasoning to make the perfect side or snack.

I like that it takes about 20 minutes to make this recipe in an air fryer.

Have you tried my Air Fryer Crispy Potato Wedges

Those crispy potato wedges are an easy and delicious appetizer or side recipe for thick cut potato fries made without frying in oil. Both this recipe for ranch potatoes and that recipe for potato wedges are great tasting potato recipes that can be made in an air fryer.

Make this recipe even better by using a seasoning blend with your ranch seasoning. You can find a selection of seasoned salt blends here.

Ingredients needed to make Ranch Potatoes in an Air Fryer.

    • Potatoes. Red potatoes were used to make my ranch potatoes mostly for their size.
    • Olive Oil. Use a spray oil as this will help the seasonings stick to the wedges. I like a flavorful oil such as olive oil.
    • Ranch Seasoning. I have a Homemade Ranch Seasoning Recipe here or you can use a store-bought version.

Tips for making the best ranch potatoes.

While my potatoes were red potatoes, there are other potatoes that will work well. Starchy potatoes, such as Russet potatoes and yukon gold potatoes, are good choices.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Start by cleaning the dirt off of your potatoes as they have grown in the ground. I use a potato scrubber for my potatoes. Also, remove any objects that do not belong on the potato skin.
    2. When slicing your potatoes into pieces, slice them uniformly in two inch or so cubes. This ensures that they will air fry evenly and they cook through without getting mushy in the center.
    3. Soaking the potatoes for 10-20 minutes in cold water will help remove excess starch (from starchy potatoes) and help the wedges get crisp. After soaking your potatoes use a clean kitchen or paper towel to pat them dry as excess moisture will prevent them from crisping.
    4. When placing the potato cubes in your air fryer basket, evenly spread them out so that they do not overlap as this can have an effect on even baking. It is better to make the potatoes in batches than overlap them.
    5. Halfway through air fryer you can shake the basket or use tongs to turn the cubes to help ensure even cooking and browning.
    6. Keep an eye on your potatoes while they are cooking. Your potatoes will be done when they are golden brown and crisp on the outside while being tender, like a baked potato, on the inside.
