How to make Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes
Prep Time: 5 minutes plus boiling time (about 15-20 minutes) .
Air Fry Time: 10-15 minutes, depending on the potatoes and your air fryer .

- Boil. Start by boiling your potatoes in a large pot until fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes). Then carefully drain the potatoes and let them cool for a few minutes. While your potatoes are cooling you can prepare your air fryer and preheat to 400°F (200°C).
- Smash. Carefully use the bottom of a sturdy glass or mug to smash the potatoes, while they are still warm, to about a half inch thickness .
- Season. Use a pastry brush or similar item to brush the oil on the smashed potatoes. Then season the potatoes with your seasonings.
- Air Fry. Arrange the smashed potatoes in your air fryer so that there is space between them. Then air fry until crispy and golden brown (about 10-15 minutes), flipping the potatoes over after six minutes .
Tips for making the best smashed potatoes.
Boiling the potatoes before until fork tender before smashing and air frying them is essential for the potatoes to be cooked through and soft and fluffy in the center. However, over-boiling the potatoes will cause them to fall apart in the air fryer.
