Chicken. Place the chicken in a large bowl. In a small bowl, use a whisk to combine together all of the seasonings. Then evenly coat or dry rub the chicken pieces with the combined seasonings. Let the chicken sit with the seasonings for about five minutes while you prepare your air fryer.
Air Fry While your chicken is sitting, you can prep your air fryer basket with a liner or take the basket out of the oven and spray it with nonstick. Place the coated chicken into your air fryer in a single layer if possible. Air fry the chicken for 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, stopping to flip the chicken over halfway through (10 minutes).
Sauce. In a medium saucepan on medium-high heat, bring the remaining ingredients, except for the cornstarch and water, to a boil while whisking constantly. When the mixture begins to boil you can reduce the heat to a simmer.
Slurry. In a small bowl, use a whisk or a fork to combine together the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Add this to the ingredients in the saucepan, whisking the ingredients constantly until thickened.
Coat. To coat the chicken with the sauce you can transfer the air fried chicken from the air fryer to large bowl and toss with the sauce. Another option is to dip the wings into the sauce. You can then transfer the coated wings to a baking sheet to set ( place the chicken on on a wire cooling rack placed on top of the baking sheet or line the baking sheet with parchment paper).
