- Prepare. Prepare your ingredients as indicated. This includes rinsing off your fillets and allowing them to get dry to touch. Then cut the fillets in to bite-sized nuggets (1”-2”).
- Wet Ingredients. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg. Then place the nuggets into the bowl, fully coating them with the wet ingredients.
- Dry Ingredients. Next, in another bowl or in a large zip top bag, combine together the flour, cornmeal, and seasonings (Old Bay and Garlic).
- Air Fryer. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F degrees. Also, prep your air fryer basket for nonstick.
- Coat. Transfer the wet nuggets to the dry ingredient mixture and fully coat the nuggets with the ingredients. If you are using a zip top bag, simply seal the bag and toss the ingredients.
- Air Fry. Arrange the coated catfish nuggets in your air fryer, leaving space between the nuggets for the air to circulate. Then air fry the nuggets until golden brown and crisp (about 10-12 minutes), flipping the nuggets over after five minutes of air frying.
