Tips for making the best crockpot ribs.
Baby back pork ribs work best in this recipe. If the membrane is still attached to the ribs, you can try peeling it off.

More helpful tips for you
- My ribs were cooked in a six quart crockpot. Depending on the size of your crockpot or slow cooker, you may need to adjust your ingredients as needed.
- Not a fan of all that pineapple juice? You can replace it with orange juice or even a sweet soda.
- For a bit of heat, you can add in additional red chili flakes or add in a jalapeno pepper.
- Slow cooking the ribs on low heat for an extended period of time allows them to become incredibly tender and juicy. Resist the temptation to turn the heat up to high heat, as this can result in tough, dry ribs.
- If your ribs seem like they are not quite 'fall of the bone' to your liking, you can slow cook them for up to an additional half hour.
- Allow your cooked ribs to rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help to redistribute the juices throughout the meat, ensuring that each bite is juicy and flavorful.
How to make Crockpot Barbecued Ribs with Pineapple
Prep Time: 10 Minutes .
Slow Cook Time: up to 8 Hours .
Servings: 8.
- To prepare your ribs, you can start by carefully removing the membrane that is attached to the ribs. Depending on the size of your slow cooker, you may need to break them up as needed to fit into your slow cooker. Lastly, you can rinse anything off the ribs if needed and use a clean kitchen or paper towel to blot your ribs dry.
- In a small bowl, use a whisk to combine together the seasoning ingredients. Then carefully rub this mixture into the ribs. If you have added the chili pepper flakes you may want to use gloves.
- Place the ribs into your slow cooker and use a pastry brush or similar brush to base the ribs using half of the barbecue sauce. I like to first pour half of the sauce into a small bowl or measuring cup before basting.
- Pour the crushed pineapple along with juice over the basted ribs.
- Next, cover your crockpot and set it to slow cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the pork ribs are fully cooked through and tender.
- Serve the ribs with the remaining sauce.
- For a more 'authentic barbecue style' you can place your slow cooked ribs onto a large baking sheet, give then an additional baste of sauce, and broil them for until caramelized (10-15 minutes). I would prep that pan first.
Expert Tip 👉 This recipe uses a slow cooker, which helps to tenderize the pork spare ribs and infuse them with flavor. You can alternatively make these ribs in an oven set to a low temperature (around 275°F or 135°C) and cook the ribs for four to five hours or until done.
How to store slow cooked ribs.
Once they have fully cooled, these ribs can be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, these ribs should keep for up to five days when refrigerated or up to a few months when frozen.
