Ingredients needed to make homemade garlic knots.
The ingredients used to make this recipe are basic ingredients that you may already have on hand. Feel free to change the seasonings as desired.
- Active Dry Yeast. Make sure that the packaging says "active dry" on it as this is what works best in this recipe..
- Warm Water Used to proof the yeast.
- Sugar. Also used in proofing the yeast. It is best to not use a sugar alternative as it is sugar that feeds the yeast.
- Oil Use olive oil or vegetable oil. This is used to make the dough. Additional oil is used to coat the pot to keep the rising dough from sticking.
- Flour. Regular all purpose flour was used to make my knots.
- Butter. For a buttery flavor, use real butter. If you are using unsalted butter you can add a half teaspoon of salt to the flour.
- Garlic. Use freshly minced garlic for optimal flavor.
- Additional seasonings. Parsley and Italian seasonings were used to make my knots.

The instant pot is used to rise the dough using the 'yogurt' setting. If you do not have an instant pot, simply place the dough into a large bowl that has been oiled on the inside, cover the top of the dough with a clean kitchen towel, and allow the dough to double in size.
