Ingredients needed to make sheet pan snack mix.

    • Butter. Your butter should be melted. Butter adds both flavor and allows the crunchy elements to brown in the oven.
    • Brown Sugar. Balances the saltiness in the crunchy ingredients.
    • Vanilla. Added for a flavor balance.
    • Ground Cinnamon. Makes this recipe even more fall-inspired. Pumpkin pie spice is also good for this recipe.
    • Chex Cereal. Rice Chex is my choice however, Corn Chex or other flavors could also work in this recipe.
    • Pretzel Twists. The perfect size and crunch!
    • Round Candies. Fall colored such as M&M's or Reese's Pieces. The chocolate is the perfect balance to the salty ingredients.
    • Candy Pumpkins Why not include the candy corn too?.

Tips for making the best Harvest Chex Mix

Using fresh ingredients is essential for making a successful snack mix. This is especially true for your crunchy elements (cereal and pretzels) this can affect the overall crunch.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Using real butter is also essential to the flavor of this recipe. While you may be tempted to use margarine or an alternative but, real butter has the best flavor for this one.
    2. What kind of Chex cereal works best in this recipe? While you could use the Chex of your choice, popular choices are corn, rice, and wheat.
    3. While the ingredients are baking in the oven, use a spatula or large spoon to flip and mix the ingredients. This will help to prevent burning.
    4. Can you add other kind of crunchy snack to the mix? Small crackers, bagel chips, or rice cracker mix work in this recipe too.
    5. Variety is what makes this homemade snack mix so good. This means using sweet, salty, crunchy, soft, colorful, and non so colorful elements.
    6. Make sure that your sheet pan ingredients have fully cooled before adding the candies. This will help the crunchy ingredients get properly crunchy without melting the candies.
