    How to make brussels sprout slaw with vinaigrette.

    Prep Time: 20 minutes .
    Servings: 8 .

    1. Prepare. Start by preparing the ingredients as indicated above. This includes toasting your walnuts, shredding the sprouts, slicing the celery, grating the carrots, and slicing the apple
    2. Toss. Add your prepared ingredients, except for the walnuts, to a large bowl and toss the ingredients a few times to combine.
    3. Dressing. To make the dressing, in a smaller bowl, whisk together the mustard, maple syrup, olive oil and apple cider vinegar. You can add seasonings as desired.
    4. Finish. Pour half of dressing over the ingredients in the large bowl and then toss. Add the remaining dressing, or as much as desired, and toss again.
    5. Serve. Gently toss in the walnuts and serve.

    Tips for making the best slaw salad.

    Shredding fresh brussel sprouts is easier if you use a food processor or mandoline to do it. However, many grocery stores also sell already shredded sprouts in the produce section.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. The roasted walnuts really add a lot to this recipe as far as texture and taste go. You can roast your walnuts for about eight minutes at 350, checking and stirring them as needed.
    2. This slaw recipe really tastes good if you toss the ingredients (except for the nuts) with the dressing and refrigerate the salad for about a half hour to allow the ingredients to set together. Then add the walnuts before serving.
    3. Adding dried fruit can also add to the color, texture, and flavor of this recipe. I like raisins or cranberries in this recipe .
