Tips for making the best turkey casserole.
Any turkey meat (light or dark) should work in this recipe. You can also make this recipe with another leftover poultry such as chicken (evan a rotisserie chicken).
More helpful tips for you.
- Leftover rice works best in this recipe as it has less moisture in it. You can use any variety or rice such as white rice, brown rice, or wild rice
- Italian bread crumbs were used to make my casserole. You can use the bread crumbs or even crackers instead.
- Not a fan of broccoli? No problem. Peas, corn, carrots or similar vegetables (leftovers or canned) should also work.
- Prepare this casserole ahead of time. Then refrigerate it covered and bake it up to a day away.
- Or, you can freeze this for up to a couple of months. Allow the casserole to get to room temperature before baking.
- Add additional shredded cheese, bacon bits, or even chopped nuts to the topping for even more goodness!
How to make Leftover Turkey Casserole With Rice
Prep Time: 10 minutes .
Bake Time: 30 minutes .

- Prep. Preheat your oven to 350. Also, prep a 9X13" baking dish for nonstick.
- Base. On the bottom of the baking dish evenly spread out the rice. Then layer the turkey (or chicken) on top of the rice and the broccoli on top of that.
- Filling. In a large bowl, use a whisk to combine together the condensed soup, heavy cream, chicken broth, mustard, and seasonings.
- Layer. Pour the combined ingredients from the mixing bowl over the layer of broccoli in the baking dish and then top that with your shredded cheese.
- Topping. To make the topping, combine together the bread crumbs with your melted butter in a small bowl. When the mixture resembles wet sand, sprinkle it over the the ingredients in the baking dish.
- Bake. Bake your casserole for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and the bread crumb topping turns golden brown.
- Cool. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes to set before serving.
